Contemporary doorsets for Wimbeldon

Contemporary design doorsets manufactured by Longden are being used in two luxury residential developments in Wimbledon. The solid timber doors supplied for the first house proved so popular with the developer that similar Longden doorsets are included in a similar £3m property next door.

With far-reaching views across Wimbledon Park to the All England Lawn Tennis Club, the prestigious new-build houses by specialist developer Dwyer Homes Ltd., incorporate LS Longden ‘Sheraton’ style panelled doors in American Black Walnut, to match kitchen units & staircase – including some large double doors. Complementary doorsets on upper floors of the property had a paint finish. The doors are traditionally constructed with solid timber stiles, rails and panels. All main joints are through mortice and tenon types, and wedged using waterproof adhesive for maximum durability.

Production techniques unique to Longden enable traditionally crafted doors to achieve performance levels such as 60 minutes fire resistance and 35 dBRw sound reduction where needed. In addition to the contemporary simplicity of the flat-panelled doorsets with square shoulder detailing used on these luxury houses, the Longden range also offers raised and fielded panels, moulded framings in different styles, various configurations that can include glazing and a wide choice of applied mouldings. Other decorative joinery items such as architraves, skirtings and dado rails can also be supplied.
