Longden on Thames

The quality of solid timber panelled doorsets, skirtings and other joinery items manufactured by Longden and the company’s service so impressed the developer of a luxury Thames-side house that he will be using them again on future developments.
The recently completed three-storey Hammersmith house is built and finished to an exceptionally high standard, incorporating every comfort such as a lift, gymnasium, roof terrace – and even an integral boathouse. A total of 27 single and double doorsets, including BWF-CERTIFIRE certificated fire doors, were supplied with chrome hinges fitted and lock preparation completed in the factory. Longden worked closely with the client to develop a classic three-panel design with ‘lamb’s tongue’ mouldings around panels, achieving the required combination of a contemporary look with traditional construction. Longden also supplied architraves, plinth-blocks and skirtings to match, all in American White Oak, while advising on detailed moulding design and timber selection.
In addition to the modern, flat-panelled doors used here, the Longden range also offers raised and fielded panels, moulded framings in different styles, various configurations that can include glazing and a wide choice of applied mouldings. Production techniques unique to Longden enable traditionally crafted doors to achieve performance levels such as 60 minutes fire resistance and 35 dBRw sound reduction where needed.
