Virtually any form of finish can be applied to Longden timber doors and doorsets, including primed for paint, clear varnish, stain, wax and oil finish, all of which can be factory applied. Please note that with clear finishes, variations in colour and grain of timber may occur as timber is a natural material. Doors ordered for on-site painting can be supplied pre-primed. Longden do not recommend that product is left clean for on-site finishing.
Standard door finishes:
2 coats primer
Standard consists of two water-based primer, de-nib between
coats. Top coats added on-site by brush or spray and should be of
a quality suitable to the location either internal or external.
3 coats acid catalyst lacquer
This has a 30% – 40% satin sheen as standard. Alternatively
matt 10% – 20% or gloss 50% – 70% can be supplied. Tinted
lacquers are also available.
Note: For the best results, Longden recommends the use of a
minimum of 20% matt lacquer to complement your doorset.
Waterborne microporous
This is the standard finish used on external doors and doorsets.
